AI-Powered Cybersecurity Innovations Addressing National Security Challenges In The United States
Abstract
The United States is facing more serious cybersecurity threats than before. This national security crisis is caused by other countries, state-sponsored adversaries, blended threat agents, and profit-driven adversaries, which target areas such as military and defense systems, power grids, intelligence agencies, and government computer networks. Traditional cybersecurity methods, such as antivirus software, are no longer capable of preventing modern and more advanced cyberattacks. Cyberspace has become an important area for modern warfare, and the U.S. needs smarter ways to defend itself against cyberattacks.
The blend of AI and cybersecurity is a modern approach to address these attacks. It is capable of real-time anomaly detection, anticipatory defense positioning, self-healing security architecture, and large-scale analytics. By adopting the concepts of machine learning, deep learning, and behavioral analytics, it can learn from previous attacks and recognize difficult and complex patterns, and also has the ability to flag an action as suspicious. Moving beyond static signatures, machine learning models preemptively capture zero-day attack data.
The central idea of this paper is to calculate how useful AI is for protecting and evaluate how effective AI-powered systems are in defending military structures, government organizations, and critical infrastructure. in order to acquire this. In order to acquire this, the authors conducted a conceptual and critical analysis and review, creating existing research papers, emerging AI technologies, and government policies. This study focuses on studying and reviewing already established data to provide strategic security insights rather than conducting new laboratory experiments. AI aids in finding cyber threats more precisely and manages to stop them before any severe consequences, even against advanced hackers. However, it is important to highlight that AI still has many problems, such as less algorithmic transparency, unfair data, i.e., bias, and being difficult to control. This study is helpful for lawmakers and researchers. It provides a clear outlook on how AI affects national security, which can help guide future U.S. laws, rules, and tactical methodologies.
