Preliminary study on auto-electrodeposition of copper, cadmium, nickel, and cobalt in acid and glycerol medium
AbstractElectrodeposition can be carried out even without corresponding metal ions in the solution, but the respective metal electrode acts as anode. This process is called auto-electrodeposition. It occurs under similar conditions applied for electrowinning or electrodeposition. The electrochemical mechanism of electrowinning and autoelectrodeposition is suggested. Hydroxyl ions play very important role in this process. In this process, a black loss deposit is formed on the anode metal. The autoelectrodeposition is combination of electrodissolution process and electrowinning process.
